I reached out to Eliakim Boussoir about the new strings. He said they are not ready yet. I like my new Aquila strings but they cannot be tuned above a = 415. I broke my c string trying yesterday. Full disclosure: Aquila days from the beginning not to tune above a= 415
Sorry to hear that. Yes I know they advise not to tune upper than 415, but I always do, and also Malov tunes at 442 obviously! If they are modern strings, they should go at 440!! Where did it broke? Keep attention that the string was stretched and when broken it goes back to a shorter length. Did it break coming out of the pegs touching the side of the pegbox, right before the nut, at the nut, along the vibrating length, at the bridge or at the tailpiece? At this point it is important to understand the cause or this will be a never ending flow of money and frustration!
I noticed than when these strings touch, even slightly, the peg ox, they explode with no warning. And often its not easy to see if they are about to touch, this depends by the shape of your pegbox sides
Looking forward to the new FB group. I am seeing my luthier tomorrow and will encourage him to join.

I was not paying close attention. It broke near the nut. It may have been touching the side of the peg box. I was negligent.
