Last Friday we visited the Clemente and Bogaro factory in Monfalcone, close to Trieste. We went there to have a Clemente and Bogaro case specifically made for Violoncello da Spalla.
Vittorio Clemente showed us the company and its wide range of products. We already use their fittings on all our instruments, but it was an exciting experience to see the manufacturing process and speak to the workers about the little personalisations we can ask for and their range of woods.
We saw the enormous machines dedicated to case production and the astonishing way to produce different colours and designs. Each case is assembled and finished by hand with care and attention to detail.
Most of all, we were touched by the pride in the eyes and words of their workers, typical of those who know they do a unique job and are making super high-end products, possibly the best on the planet.
They made a scan of our Violoncello da Spalla, so now it is possible to order the Bogaro and Clemente Violoncello da Spalla case! It will be made of carbon fibre, so it is super light and compact and fits in the plane overhead lockers. Most importantly, it will have a perfectly waterproof gasket!
Their waiting time is around six weeks, and you can order it in any colour or design you like!
If you are looking for a professional Violoncello da Spalla case, this is likely to be the definitive choice: light, compact, beautiful, waterproof, strong, made in Italy with the utmost attention to detail, and reasonably priced! It will cost something like 600€, depending on the design and accessories chosen. This means it comes for a huge 40% less than the other options available!!
We ordered two, and they will start production as soon as they have another couple of orders. So you can order safely, they will produce it in a reasonable time, and your case will match your highest expectations! Bogaro and Clemente have a long tradition of delivering the best quality of all the products in their catalogue.
Visit their website to see all the design options, and email them your order!
Updates from our workshop
Daniela is carving the peg boxes, which is not the most exciting part of the job, so not many pics about this.
The exciting part of the week was the weekend in Trieste. We visited an old relative of Alessandro, and in the old family pics, I have found one with this violinist, 1919, very clearly using only the fourth string overspun with silver wire and the first three in pure gut, as was absolutely usual for the time.
We visited the cathedral and a museum and spent the day walking through the town.
Featured video of the week
Wonderful new video from Sergey Malov, live recording. Enjoy!
That's amazing! B & C products are excellent! Thank you for sharing your trip and experience with them!
Just sent you a PM on messenger with the dims of my da Spalla, wondering about the BC case and whether it would fit.
