News from da Spalla world
New book on Violoncello da Spalla available! I sat down to prepare an informative brochure to leave to the audience of our presentations. But there was so much to tell, that it became 40 pages! It is not a serious research book, on the contrary, if you read late at night hoping to find a good sleep… it will probably keep you awake! It is filled with historical news, anecdotes, iconography and fun cartoons! Because the Violoncello da Spalla is so much fun, fun had to be an essential part of the book too!
It is available on Amazon at this link.
Updates from our workshop
A bit of an hectic week (how it is that every week I would open with this phrase? But this time I couldn’t find another one). We booked our flights to do to Atlanta, for the Celebrating women luthiers exhibit!
(So, next week expect this newsletter to be a bit late… as it will be on the opening day of the exhibit! -and I will probably suffer from jet lag
My Violoncello da Spalla will be part of it, he will have his US tour! The exhibit will start in Suwanee (Atlanta) at Huthmaker Violins , will move at the beginning of April to Brobst Violins in Alexandria, Virginia and will end in May at Vermont Violins, Burlington.
Get in touch with the wonderful people in these shops if you are around and want to try it!
Alessandro’s Violoncello da Spalla got his last coat of varnish and he’s looking gorgeous! Now he will dry properly while we’ll be in US, and when we’re back we’ll hear his voice, in a comparison between gut strings and silk strings. Keep following us!
