How it’s made: part 11 - Bassbar!

Bassbar time! This time, I tried two different styles:

Disclaimer: I’m giving you the measures of MY bass bar, which is not THE standard of the Violoncello da Spalla. They are my standard, as I did on my last five instruments, and I’m happy with them because they are all successful instruments. Alessandro makes longer bass bars, and he’s happy as well, and his instruments are also successful.

There is generally still a lot of experimentation on bass bars, so feel free to make what you are comfortable with.

We have very little information on the originals. The only true original we have (the Wagner’s) is probably not something you would copy, unless you are making a copy of that specific instrument, as I did in 2021 (pic on the right).
