Hallo! I have to admit that the deadline of this newsletter caught me completely by surprise. Sometimes, you are simply too much into your projects to take care of the date!
I don’t want to completely fail my commitment, as well as not to spoil your time with useless talks.
So this will be a brief note about a short document: the Breitkopf Catalogue from 1762:
According to Mark M. Smith this catalogue is not of printed music, but of manuscripts that were ready to be copied on order. It’s simply interesting the fact that the violoncello da braccia players (opposed as the da gamba) were a slice of the market. The repertoire oroposed may not be the most interesting of the period, but the existence of the instrument is not questionable.
