Just a quick update from Meltina, Italy!
There’s a lot going on in our heads and daily talks concerning Violoncello da Spalla, but I’m afraid you won’t get a proper newsletter today, because these days I’m enjoying the visit of a dear friend, Kate, that I didn’t meet since 20 years. She is Australian and she recently moved to Dresden where she is researching about how they used bassoon and the basso continuo group in Hofkapelle Dresden in the first half of the 18th century. As you can easily imagine, our chats often go to the use of Violoncello da Spalla, and what really is and was a Violoncello da Spalla.
Last week Alessandro and I drove 1600 km to meet Sigiswald Kuijken first, and then Ryo Terakado. These two great men of the da spalla revival gave us numerous suggestions and good inputs, generous feedbacks trying our instruments, and we profusely discussed about the “modern” and the “original” da spalla. Those talks are settling in our minds now and will probably shape our work this year an on. We will share more about this in this newsletter.
Next week, we will drive again, again to develope something beautiful for the world of the da spalla. But I won’t tell now!
Thanks for reading and following us!
Daniela and Alessandro

Great moments! Thank you for sharing!
